I wrestled with Boston Union at Wai Kru in Allston today. A few guys from the Bentley College Wrestling Club were there (they don't have a varsity wrestling team). After drilling, we chose teams and had a dual meet, 3 x 30 second periods. It was a lot of fun; even though I lost my match 2-0. Tried to stack him with the western hook & 3/4 nelson at the end but he was too strong.
Wai Kru is a MMA training club and one of the guys (that I made sure not to wrestle) was in Las Vegas last weekend fighting in a UFC match. He was named fighter of the night and got a $65K bonus. While we wrestled others were kicking and punching heavy bags or jumping rope. A couple of guys were doing light sparring in the octagonal cage next to the wrestling mat. Pretty cool.
