#42 #43 #44 #45 #46 Hale, Zealand, Bonds traverse

Saturday, 3/5/17, 5:54AM

We carried our snowshoes based on Bridget's and Abby's advice from their hike the day before, but we didn't need them. The snow on the trails (and in the surrounding woods) was rock solid and bare boots with microspikes was all that was needed. Climbing up from Zeacliff to Zealand Ridge we put on snowshoes for added traction, but they were a nuisance / danger on the exposed rock of Guyot, so we soon put them back on our packs. Coming down from Guyot we met Leah, Peter, Mark, and Chris doing a S to N traverse. Except for the people at Zealand Hut, they were the only hikers we met all day.
