#47 Wildcat A solo bushwhack

Bushwhacked up Wildcat A today. #47 since the winter solstice. Cold and pretty windy. -16F and reportedly 50mph but I'm skeptical.

-16F and high winds closed the ski resort.

I hiked 0.8mi on the Thompson's Falls Trail then bushwhacked the rest of the way.

A few places the trees were almost impenetrable.

Other places, the woods were wide open and perfect for bushwhacking.

The outlook on top didn't provide much of a view, but through the clouds I could see Carter Dome.

On the way back, I stopped to take photos of Thompson's Falls. Too cold and stressed on the way up.

Sign says it all: "We hope that you have gained a better understanding of the mysteries of Nature by following the way of the Wildcat.
"By traveling to the summit of Wildcat Mountain you can see more of Nature's efforts to create a beautiful world around you."

Relaxing back at the trailhead.

This is how to relax after the hike. Much better than the giant chair at the ski base. Central heating is great!
